What is a Sunday Golf Pencil Bag?

A Sunday golf pencil bag, also known as a Sunday bag or pencil bag is a lightweight and minimalist type of golf bag designed for golfers who prefer walk the course with only a few clubs.

They are also popular bags for the driving range or pitch and putt courses. These bags are often used for casual rounds, practice sessions, or when playing only a few holes. They are named "Sunday bags" due to their historical association with golfers who would use them for leisurely rounds on Sundays.

Things to Consider When Buying A Pencil Bag

From functionality to style, here are the key considerations for selecting the best golf pencil bag for you:

  1. What will you use it for? Pencil bags great for the driving range to take a few clubs. They can also be used for pitch and putt courses or if you enjoy using half a set on the golf course. They would not be suitable for 14 club play and if you need a bag for driving on carts.
  2. Storage Capacity: Understand you will only be able to store a few essentials. Some pencil bags have quite a bit of storage for a jacket but you will be limited to what you can store in a pencil bag.
  3. Durability: While pencil bags are compact, they still need to withstand the rigors of the golf course. Look for durable materials, reinforced stitching, and quality zippers to ensure your bag can endure the elements. While it is a secondary bag for most people, you don't really need to buy one every year, so it's best to find a high quality fabric like the bags in this article.
  4. Comfort: Get a pencil bag with a nice strap with padding that sites in a good position on the shoulder. No matter how light the bag is, an uncomfortable strap can make you regret carrying in a few holes.
  5. Stand style: If you want a bag that stands in a way you can reach your clubs without bending, you need a full length stand pencil bag. If you don't mind bending over to retrieve clubs, then the short stands or mini stands are suitable for you. It can be annoying to bend down a lot if you did not factor that into your purchasing decision.
  6. Weather Resistance: Naturally you want a bag that suits your climate conditions to protect your clubs from the weather.

What are Golf Pencil Bags Used For?

Golf pencil bags are small, lightweight alternatives to traditional golf bags, designed to carry only the essentials.

  1. Minimalist Carry: 5-8 clubs and some balls..
  2. Quick Rounds: When you want to turn up, grab a few clubs and chill out.
  3. Practice Sessions: I always use pencil bags for the driving range, usually taking only driver, 4 iron, 7 iron, pitching wedge. I don't like lugging the whole golf bag from the car to the house and from the car to the range.
  4. Walking Courses: This is good for people starting out walking and using only a few clubs to get used to the idea of carrying.
  5. Casual Play: Pitch and putt courses and executive golf courses where only 3 or 4 clubs will do and there is minimal chance of losing a ball.

Conclusion

They make the perfect bag for a quick nine holes, a practice session, or make it easy to play a half set. The balance between functionality and aesthetics, storage and simplicity, makes these bags great alternatives to bringing the big bag everywhere all the time.

In the end, the choice of the best pencil golf bag comes down to your playing style. Whether you're a proper walking golfer, a casual enthusiast, or in need of a bag for the driving range, pencil golf bags offer you options that can elevate your game, lighten your load, and help chill you out on the course.

best carry bag for golf that is lightweight

We love walking a golf course, feeling the turf, coming up with a plan for each shot, and scoring better. After lugging a heavy bag for just one round though, we all start thinking about what the best lightweight carry golf bag would be. Once you throw a lightweight bag on your shoulders, that's when carrying gets easier, scores improve even more, and you save your shoulders.

You can even get carry bags as light as 3.9 lbs! Imagine how much better your aching shoulders and back could feel after a round.

In this article, we'll showcase the top options available, considering factors such as weight, comfort, durability, and storage capacity. Soon, you'll have everything you need to know to choose the best carry golf bag for you.

best golf bags for lightweight carrying

What we like:

- Strong legs and leg locking technology

- Comfortable strap and ergonomic design

- A very light 3.9 lbs

- Large edgy color range

The stand is sturdy and keeps the legs extended fully or contracted fully, with no loose hanging legs while carrying. That is an overlooked aspect of carry bags with stands. Strong and efficient leg extending and retracting stops the legs getting hooked on things in your car or when you carry the bag on the course.

Comfort and Ergonomic Design

This is a very comfortable carry on both the back and butt. The straps of the Flextech Lite are comfortable on the shoulders and help hold the bag in a very pleasant position across your back side.

The pocket configuration is intuitive and accessible while walking. You won’t need to always put the bag down to reach your valuables or your drink. The zipper pulls are large rings which are very easy to get your fingers into and yank open the zippers.

Eight nicely sized pockets mean you can store a ton of stuff. The interior mesh pockets in the main pocket help to divide up the small and big stuff so there’s no need to rummage. Another cool feature on the inside of the bag is a zip that gives you access to the club compartment to retrieve things you’ve dropped down the top of the bag – keys, bottle, wallets, your kids etc. An insulated drink pocket is included as well.

Edgier colors and design

The colors and design of the bags are bright and attractive with some standard options available. The fabric is high quality and will not tear easily.

Vital Statistics

  • 4 way full-length dividers
  • 8 pockets

With five pockets, this bag offers generous storage capacity. The pocket that is so important in modern day is the valuables pocket and the Fairway C valuable pocket is fleece-lined, designed to safeguard your phone from scratches. It provides ample depth to comfortably store a phone, wallet, keys, and other valuable items.

The Ultralight Pro has a lower center of gravity to stop the bag tipping over. When the lightweight carry bags are filled with clubs, sometimes the weight being at the top of the bag can cause the bag to topple. Cobra prevent this by improving the solid base of the bag which is flat. THe flat base means you can use this bag in a push cart as well as a driving cart.

Pros

  • Base of the bag is excellent for stability and use on carts
  • Five way divider for easy club access
  • 9 huge pockets for maximum storage
  • Magnetic easy access valuables pocket

Cons

  • Pockets could be easier to access

What to Look for When Choosing a Lightweight Golf Bag

When choosing a lightweight golf bag, there are several key factors to consider. Here are some important aspects to look for:

  1. Weight: Look for clues in the name of the bag. Words like Lite or numbers with decimals can indicate the lightweight golf bags.
  2. Comfort: Consider the shoulder straps and handles. Look for padded straps, ergonomic designs, and adjustable features that provide comfort and minimize fatigue during your round.
  3. Durability: The stand and mechanism should open wide at the end of the legs so the bag has a solid base without falling over. The fabrics should be strong and if you need a waterproof bag, it's important to look for that specific term in the description.
  4. Storage capacity: This is where a lightweight carry golf bag might try and shave weight so expect their to be less storage capacity. A thermal water pocket might be sacrificed but if you look carefully, the exact number of pockets is almost always mentioned.
  5. Club organization: Check for features like dividers and club slots that keep your clubs organized and prevent them from clattering together. Like pockets, lightweight golf bags tend to have fewer dividers to save weight. Check to see if they have full length dividers to stop grip tangling and 4-5 slots in the top of the bag.
  6. Easy access and functionality: Ensure that the bag offers convenient access to pockets, zippers, and compartments, allowing you to retrieve items easily while on the course. Consider features like towel loops, umbrella holders, and glove attachments for added convenience.
  7. Style and aesthetics: While not essential to performance, the bag's appearance and design may be important to you. Choose a bag that reflects your personal style and preferences.
  8. Price: Consider your budget and find a lightweight golf stand bag that offers the desired features within your price range. Compare different options to get the best value for your money.

What is the average weight of a full golf bag?

The average weight of a full golf bag, including clubs and other equipment, typically ranges from 20 to 30 pounds (9 to 13.5 kilograms).

The clubs themselves account for a most of the weight, with a set of 14 clubs generally weighing around 18 to 23 pounds (8 to 10 kilograms). Other factors contributing to the overall weight of a golf bag include the bag's materials, additional accessories like rangefinders, and personal items stored in the pockets.

It's worth mentioning that bags like Sunday bags or pencil bags, have become popular. These bags are designed to reduce total weight and offer a portable and minimalist option for golfers who prefer to carry fewer clubs and essentials during their rounds. These lightweight bags can weigh as little as 3 to 5 pounds (1.4 to 2.3 kilograms), excluding the weight of the clubs.

How much does a lightweight carry golf bag weigh?

A lightweight golf bag typically weighs between 3 and 5 pounds (1.3 to 2.3 kilograms).

Manufacturers use lightweight materials, such as nylon, carbon fiber, or other synthetic fabrics, without compromising on durability and functionality. These materials allow for a strong bag, that lasts a long time and reduces strain on the golfers body in the long term.

Do you prefer walking the course and drive a golf cart?

If you sometimes drive a golf car when you play, a most lightweight carry bags can be strapped to the back. The best lightweight carry bags have flat bases so you can use it for two purposes - carrying and carting. Newer stand bags have flat bases.

If you like walking, you have the option of carrying your bag on your shoulders or using a push cart with the same carry bag.

Do you prefer walking the course with a bag on your back or on a push cart?

If you prefer using a push cart exclusively, you should get a cart bag. They are designed specifically to give access to all the pockets and align correctly to the cart. Weight of the bag is less of an issue because it’s rolled on the cart over the ground.

Carrying a bag would require a lightweight carry golf bag with nice double straps to distribute the weight over your shoulders evenly. Cart bags only have one strap and are cumbersome to carry around the course.

Do you have any back problems?

If you have a bad back, it’s best to have a cart bag you drive with on a car or you put one on a push cart and push your bag around easily. Carry and stand bags will place added pressure on your back.

Pull carts wreak havoc on your lower back so it's best to avoid pull carts and opt for a push cart.

Do you travel with your clubs?

If you travel with your clubs, it’s best to have a carry/stand bag. You can hitch it up to a cart you rent or carry it around yourself on the golf courses you visit. A lightweight carry golf bag will help stay under the limit of weight allowed for sports equipment on airlines too.

Traveling with a cart bag is a major pain. The single strap is uncomfortable and the bags have not been ergonomically designed to be carried. The heavy weight of a cart bag makes it easy to go over the airline weight limits.

Is storage space a priority for you?

A cart bag on a push cart offers you maximum storage space for everything you need on the golf course. The push carts have their own built in storage on top of the cart bags many compartments. You’ll have enough supplies to live for a week on the course.

Final Thoughts

Lightweight golf bags have revolutionized the way golfers carry their equipment on the course. With advancements in design, materials, and functionality, these bags offer convenience without compromising on quality. Throughout this article, we have explored the key factors to consider when choosing a lightweight golf bag, including weight, comfort, durability, storage capacity, club organization, easy access, style, and price.

Pick the right one for you taking all your preferences into account and you'll notice a huge difference in how your body feels after a round.

Big Max Heaven Seven Golf Stand Bag

Unknown but quality bag

big max 7 heaven golf bag

This is a little known brand but I've seen it quite a lot on golf courses here in Thailand. The caddies over here love it as it's super lightweight, which is ideal if they're pulling the bag on a cart. As a carry bag it does exactly what you would expect, with pretty solid legs for a budget golf bag.

There is plenty of storage for all of your gear and I've found the materials used to be high quality. The only downside is that there isn't an insulated drink pouch which is always a handy feature.

The bag has nice straps which aren't fiddly to adjust so you can get the bag sitting just right on your back. You can use it on a push cart and golf buggy just fine too.

This might be the fanciest option on this list, but it's a really solid golf bag for the money.

Prosimmon Tour 14 Way Cart Golf Bag

Best 14 way cart bag

Prosimmon Tour 14 Way Cart Golf Bag

The Prosimmon Tour 14 Way Cart Golf Bag is a feature-packed bag that offers excellent functionality and organization for golfers who primarily use a golf cart. Here are the key aspects worth considering:

Organization: The standout feature of this bag is its 14-way top divider system, providing individual slots for each club. I find this this to be essential for a cart bag to stop rattling and tangling of clubs. There's something about driving around in a cart which causes club issues! Theres also a dedicated putter sleeve which I LOVE on a cart bag. Easy access to the club you use on every hole.

Storage: The Prosimmon Tour Cart Golf Bag offers plenty of storage options which you expect from these styles of golf bags. It includes multiple pockets, including apparel pockets, accessory pockets, a cooler pocket, and a valuables pocket.

Whether you opt for a stand bag, a cart bag, or a lightweight pencil bag, finding the perfect balance between functionality, convenience, and affordability is key.

From beginners embarking on their golfing journey to seasoned players seeking reliable spare bags, our selection has options for all. We've considered factors such as size, weight, club organization, storage options, comfort, and durability to ensure that every golfer can find a bag that suits their specific needs.

What to consider when buying a golf bag

When buying a golf bag, there are several key factors to consider to ensure you make the right choice for your needs. Here are some important aspects to keep in mind:

  1. Bag Type: Determine the type of golf bag that suits your playing style. The main options are cart bags, stand bags, and carry bags. Cart bags are designed for use on golf carts, while stand bags have built-in legs for standing on the ground. Carry bags are lightweight and designed to be carried on your shoulder.
  2. Size and Weight: Consider the size and weight of the bag. If you frequently walk the course, a lighter bag may be more comfortable to carry. Ensure the bag has sufficient storage space for your clubs, balls, accessories, and personal items.
  3. Club Dividers: Look for a golf bag with individual club dividers. Dividers help keep your clubs organized, protected, and easily accessible during your round.
  4. Storage Features: Check the bag's storage options, including pockets for golf balls, tees, gloves, valuables, and apparel. Additional features such as cooler pockets or umbrella holders can also be beneficial.
  5. Durability and Quality: Assess the bag's construction, materials, and overall durability. A well-made bag with sturdy zippers, reinforced handles, and durable fabric will ensure longevity and protection for your equipment.
  6. Comfort and Convenience: Consider the bag's strap system, padding, and overall ergonomics. Look for features that enhance comfort during transportation, such as padded shoulder straps, dual straps, or ergonomic handles.
  7. Waterproofing: Golf is often played in various weather conditions, so choosing a bag with water-resistant or waterproof material can help protect your gear from rain or dampness.
  8. Price: Set a budget and look for options that offer the best value for money. Assess the features, quality, and durability of the bag in relation to its price.

Should I buy a stand bag or a cart bag?

The choice between a stand bag and a cart bag depends on your specific needs and playing style. Here are some factors to consider when deciding between the two:

Stand Bag:

  • Portability: Stand bags are designed for golfers who prefer to walk the course. They typically feature built-in legs that extend to keep the bag upright, making it easy to access clubs while on the move.
  • Lightweight: Stand bags are generally lighter than cart bags, making them more comfortable to carry for extended periods.
  • Versatility: Stand bags can be used on both walking and riding rounds, providing flexibility if you occasionally use a golf cart.
  • Limited storage space: Stand bags tend to have fewer pockets and storage options compared to cart bags, so if you carry a lot of gear or frequently need extra storage, a stand bag may not be ideal.

Cart Bag:

  • Convenience: Cart bags are designed to be used on golf carts or pushcarts, offering easy access to golf clubs and storage while riding.
  • Ample storage: Cart bags typically have more pockets and storage compartments, allowing you to carry all of your golf gear and personal items.
  • Organizational features: Cart bags often come with full-length dividers, which keep clubs separate and prevent them from tangling or clashing during transportation.
  • Stability: Cart bags fit securely on the cart, preventing shifting or movement during transportation.
  • Less portability: Cart bags are bulkier and heavier than stand bags, which may make them less suitable for golfers who prefer to walk the course.

Your decision should be based on your playing preferences, how you typically navigate the course, and the amount of equipment you carry. If you primarily walk the course and prioritize portability, a stand bag is a great choice. On the other hand, if you typically ride in a golf cart or pushcart and require more storage space and convenience, a cart bag may be the better option.

What bag should a senior golfer buy?

When it comes to choosing a golf bag for senior golfers, there are a few key factors to consider to accommodate their specific needs. Here are some considerations:

  1. Lightweight: Opt for a lightweight bag that is easier to carry or maneuver for senior golfers who prefer walking the course. Look for materials like nylon or lightweight synthetic fabrics to reduce overall weight.
  2. Stand Bag with Comfortable Straps: A stand bag with ergonomic and padded shoulder straps is beneficial for seniors who choose to walk the course. This will provide better comfort and reduce strain on the shoulders and back.
  3. Easy-to-Use Features: Look for bags with user-friendly features, such as easy-access pockets, large zippers, and user-friendly buckles. This ensures that senior golfers can easily retrieve their clubs, accessories, and personal items without any unnecessary hassle.
  4. Club Organization: Consider a golf bag with individual club dividers to keep clubs separated and prevent tangling. This feature enhances convenience and makes it easier for senior golfers to locate and retrieve specific clubs during their round.
  5. Ample Storage: Ensure the bag has enough storage space for essential items, including golf balls, tees, rain gear, and personal belongings. Multiple pockets and compartments will help keep everything organized and easily accessible.
  6. Sturdy and Stable: Look for a bag that is stable when standing upright or when placed on a golf cart. This provides convenience and prevents the bag from tipping over, making it easier for senior golfers to access their clubs and equipment.
  7. Consider Personal Requirements: Take into account any specific needs or preferences that a senior golfer may have. For example, if they have mobility issues, a bag with a cart strap pass-through can securely attach to a golf cart.
  8. Budget: Consider the budget and find a golf bag that offers good value for money. While high-end bags may have luxurious features, there are affordable options available that meet the needs of senior golfers without compromising quality.

The best golf bag for a senior golfer will depend on their individual preferences, physical abilities, and playing style. By prioritizing lightweight design, comfort, convenience, and organization, senior golfers can find a bag that enhances their enjoyment of the game and supports their needs on the course.

What is a golf pencil bag used for?

A golf pencil bag, also known as a Sunday bag or a carry bag, is a lightweight and compact golf bag designed for minimalistic and convenient use. It serves specific purposes in golfing scenarios where golfers may prefer to carry a limited set of clubs or desire a hassle-free experience on the course. Here's what a golf pencil bag is commonly used for:

  1. Walking Rounds: Golf pencil bags are popular among golfers who enjoy walking the course rather than using golf carts. Their lightweight design and compact size make them easy to carry throughout the round.
  2. Practice Rounds: When golfers head to the driving range or practice facility, they often prefer a pencil bag to carry a small selection of clubs they intend to work with. It allows them to focus on specific shots and practice without the need for a full-sized bag.
  3. Shorter Rounds: For casual or executive golf outings, where players might only use a limited number of clubs, a pencil bag offers convenience and simplicity. It eliminates the need to bring a full set of clubs, making the round more manageable.
  4. Traveling: Golf pencil bags are also a popular choice for golfers who frequently travel and want a compact and lightweight bag to take on trips. They can be easily folded or collapsed for efficient storage and transport.
  5. Quick Rounds or Par 3 Courses: When playing a short or executive course or engaging in a quick round of golf, a pencil bag allows golfers to carry a reduced number of clubs while enjoying a more relaxed and streamlined experience.

Best Golf Shoes For Seniors 2024

Last Updated on January 2, 2024 by Matt Greene
*Read our review guidelines.

All of the senior golfers I play with are out on the course at least 3 times a week. Also, these guys walk everywhere, even in the insane heat of Thailand. They need their golf shoes to be comfortable and durable. They can't wear out after 10 rounds and need to provide the support to a body which maybe isn't what it used to be.

I've looked at what my more seasoned golf pals are wearing and found some of the most comfortable golf shoes for seniors you can buy today. We've got spikeless golf shoes, modern golf shoes and more traditional golf shoes to cover all the bases.

Let's take a look at where your money is best spent and make those new golf shoes work for you on the golf course!

Best Golf Shoes For Seniors in 2024

TRUE Linkswear TRUE ORIGINAL 1.2 golf shoes

Best all round golf shoe made from quality materials

truelinkswear original golf shoes for seniors

These TRUE Linkswear shoes are the best golf shoes for seniors without a doubt. The TRUE Original has a minimalist fit, wide toe box and zero drop to maximise all round comfort. These shoes are specifically engineered for walking, and can keep you going without a problem on 36 hole days!

The wide sole of the Original 1.2 creates a massive amount of surface contact giving you a great connection to the turf and unbelievable traction in all conditions. Walk and feel the course like you've never felt before with a flexible, ergonomically designed sole that eliminates all inhibitions between you and the turf.

These shoes are made with super premium materials and they just feel so nice straight out of the box. The upper is "alternative" leather which is scratch resistant but feels and looks like the real thing. The sole is made from a nice bendy rubber which doesn't go hard in colder conditions which is something I've experienced with other shoes from big brands.

The real showstopper of this shoe though is the waterproofing. Rain, dew, snow whatever you are not getting wet feet with these on. TRUE have built a waterproof "bootie" into the shoe with a neoprene tongue to keep all moisture out. What is surprising is that your feet don't feel like they're inside a wetsuit and they are super breathable. Winter or summer you're going to have dry feet and this is a must in senior golf shoe. All of the seniors I play with are out there in all conditions, so this is a shoe which will keep delivering round after round.

Pros

  • 2 year waterproof guarantee
  • Wide Toe Box (Up to EEE)
  • Neoprene Waterproof Tongue
  • Antimicrobial Insert for Superior Comfort and Breathability

Cons

  • None that we can think of!

Ecco Biom Hybrid 4 Boa Gore Tex Waterproof golf shoe

Best waterproof golf shoes with extreme comfort

ecco h4 boa

Steve on my YouTube channel is massive fan of Ecco shoes. I've always heard people raving about how comfortable they are, but I was never that into the look of them in the past. Freddy Couples put the original Biom Hybrid golf shoes on the map when he started playing golf in them on TV, and Ecco struggled to get the Yak leather needed to keep up with the demand for these spikeless golf shoes.

The Biom Hybrid Boa Gore Tex Waterproof golf shoes have every feature you want in a shoe for seniors. First and foremost, they look great, and come in a variety of colors to suit any taste. They are a more modern looking golf shoe, but age is just a number and senior golf shoes don't need to look like they were made 100 years ago. They are versatile golf shoes in that you can wear them on and off the course and look and feel great.

The Boa fit adjustment feature is a complete godsend for older guys who suffer from a bad back and other conditions which can cause their feet to swell up when playing. You can tighten or loosen these shoes with a twist of the Boa controller without having to bend down for a lengthy period of time, and you can fine tune the perfect fit. This just isn't a feature you will find in a traditional golf shoe.

Out on the golf course, these shoes have you covered in terms of grip and keeping out the water. They are a spikeless shoe, but they are super stable, even in the wettest and greasiest of conditions. With Gore Tex technology included, you know you're getting the best waterproof golf shoes you can buy, while knowing that they will be really breathable and reduce sweating.

If spikes are your thing, the G5 model is essentially the same shoe but with replaceable soft spikes on the sole.

Easily the best golf shoes you can buy and they last for a long, long time.

Pros

  • Supreme comfort
  • Stable throughout the golf swing
  • Gore Tex water proofing
  • Boa fit technology for the perfect fit
  • Soft premium yak leather

Cons

  • Price, but they last for ever

FootJoy Contour Casual Golf Shoe

Look great these bad boys on or off the course

footjoy contour casual golf shoes

FootJoy have always made great shoes. For seniors, they made the pretty much bomb proof Aqualite range which would last for hundreds of rounds and perform time and time again. The problem with those "traditional" shoes is that they look a bit drab and boring. With the Contour Causal, FootJoy have got with the times while still keeping the needs of the senior golfer in mind.

This is another spikeless golf shoe, and has the laid back styling of a sneaker. Each colour combination is eye catching, and you know that you're getting the materials of premium golf shoes you'd expect from FootJoy.

The appeal of these shoes is that you can easily wear them on or off the golf course. They won't look out of place with a pair of jeans or dressed up a bit more for a smart casual event. The golf shoe market has had to adapt to these needs as golf clubs have began to relax their dress codes and become more accepting of sneakers and other athletic shoes in and around the club house.

I think the Contour casuals will become a classic golf shoe in time and a silhouette other brands try to imitate.

Pros
  • Look at home on or off the golf course
  • Most versatile golf shoes tested
  • Great grip from the soft spikes
  • Competitive pricing

Cons

  • Not the most waterproof golf shoes

Skechers Men's Go Elite Tour Sl Waterproof Golf Shoe Sneaker

Guaranteed comfortable golf shoes from Skechers

skechers go elite pro sl

Like Ecco, Skechers were best know for their standard shoe offerings before they entered the golf shoe market. Many seniors jumped at the chance to wear Skechers golf shoes as they knew they would give them the fit, support and quality they were used to, at a price point they could afford.

Most Skechers shoes are basically tweaked versions of their sneakers and these designs make great golf shoes. The Elite Tour SL is more of a specialist golf shoe model, but still has that trademark Skechers look and feel. You get some nice color choices to suit your taste and the materials used look and feel of high quality.

My buddy Mike has two pairs of these shoes and loved that they didn't require any breaking in, they were ready to go straight out of the box.

The shoes feature a premium leather upper with H2GO shield seam-sealed waterproof protection. The low drop design keeps your feet low to the ground in a neutral position which really helps seniors with more static swings. The UltraFlight cushioning provides premium levels of comfort.

Pros
  • Comfort straight from the box
  • Great waterproof golf shoes
  • Good option for guys who don't normally wear spikeless golf shoes
  • A few color options

Cons

  • White version does discolour over time

Under Armour Men's HOVR Drive 2 Golf Shoe

Best low spin high launch hybrid clubs

UA hovr 2 golf shoe

The Cobra RADSPEED Hybrid looks the bomb. I really like the bright yellow detailing  and these clubs definitely have bag appeal out on the golf course.

The design delivers low spin, high launch, and forgiveness with Cobra's front-biased Radial Weighting system. Two 6 gram weights are placed in the front of the club head with a further 7 gram weight in the back,  creating balance for a super low spin shot with high launch. Jim who writes for the site plays with a senior who games these clubs and his long game has been revolutionised. He was struggling massively with his 5 iron and switched to the 21 degree model of the RADSPEED and now he's a demon from 180 yards.

Hollow split rails placed at front of the club create 70% more flex from heel to toe, giving you a greater launch with faster ball speeds. A forged insert is thinner and more flexible for even more ball speed and greater stopping power into greens. Two Baffler sole rails prevent digging for better shots out of tougher lies, rough, or bunkers.

This is much more pricey than the Cobra Air X featured above and is aimed at the senior who has a more consistent swing and more speed. If that's you, I don't think you can look past this club.

Pros
  • Radial Weighting – clever placement of weight enhances speed, forgiveness, and ball flight
  • Baffler rails on the sole for better turf interaction
  • Forged face insert is thinner and more flexible for faster ball speeds and higher launch

Cons

  • Not adjustable - choose the right loft for you

Skechers Men's Go Arch Fit Golf Shoe Sneaker

Save your back with easy to close velcro laces

skechers back 9 golf shoe

OK, these might not look the best, but if you struggle with a bad back, who cares? The velcro on top makes it super easy to put these shoes on and just as easy to take them off. Adjusting the fit is also a breeze. The spikes on the bottom are still soft but super substantial and will give you all of the traction you will ever need.

These shoes are for a very specific sub set of senior golfer, but they shouldn't be overlooked.

Pros
  • Really easy to put on
  • Super soft feel
  • Excellent spikes for traction

Cons

  • Not the best looking shoe
  • Only for a specific subset of senior golfer

Final thoughts on best golf shoes for senior golfers

Just because you're a "senior" it doesn't mean you have to compromise on style when it comes to your golf shoes. The options in this list have been chosen because they're obviously great options, but because they will suit the needs of a wide range of different seniors. I hope you can find the best shoes for your or at least get some inspiration.

Best Golf Alignment Sticks

best golf alignment sticks

Last Updated on December 26, 2023 by Matt Greene
*Read our review guidelines.

Have you ever wondered what those funny looking sticks are that tour pros have in their golf bags? No they're not for keeping annoying fans in check or reprimanding their caddy after a bad shot (I'm JOKING), they are actually alignment sticks for practice.

But surely you can use any stick for this purpose, right? Not exactly. There are loads of alignment sticks on the market and like everything in the game of golf, some are better than others.

Let's look at what the best golf alignment sticks look like and why you should consider buying some to put in your golf bag.

Tl;dr - My pick for the best golf alignment sticks are the SKLZ Golf Alignment sticks

Best Golf Alignment Sticks

SKLZ Golf Alignment Sticks Training Aid

My choice for the best golf alignment sticks

sklz golf alignment rods

I used to think that golf alignment sticks were a bit of a gimmick and an excuse to sell more products until I spent some time training with pro golfer Mo Lim. He uses alignments sticks for everything, from putting to swing plane work, and I then saw the benefit of an aid to help you get proper alignment.

The SKLZ Alignment Sticks were the best alignments sticks I could find and rank as the toughest in terms of durability.

Constructed from lightweight fiberglass, every stick features 9 rings across the middle of the rod to help you with setup and ball position. This is a great little feature which I really find useful as I have a tendency to let the ball creep back in my stance.

These alignment sticks are 48 inches long meaning they fit into nearly all golf bags and are highly versatile. You can use them for nearly every part of your golf game, golf swing path, putting stroke, and short game. A rubber safety cap on the end of each rod is a cool little feature to prevent damage to you or your golf bag.

Pros

  • 3 alignment sticks
  • Lightweight fiberglass material
  • Built in ball position markings
  • Rubber safety caps
  • 48-inch length fits inside a golf bag

Cons

  • None really

Tour Sticks – The #1 Training Aid

The classic of golf training aids

tour sticks alignment rods

Tour Sticks were some of the original alignment sticks and were adopted by tour pros across the world. They are a simple design and useful for many different types of training drills. The rods are 46 inches in length and are UV-coated to prevent their color from fading over time.

You can get these alignment sticks in nearly every color to match your personal preferences. They also come with a nice little carry case for easy transportation when they're not in your golf bag.

Simple but effective alignment sticks.

Pros
  • 2 simple alignment sticks
  • 46-inch length, same as a golf driver
  • Rubber safety caps
  • Carry case
  • Lots of color options

Cons

  • Only two roads when competition have 3

Billisa Golf Alignment Sticks

Best alignment sticks for color options

billisa golf alignment stikcs

If Amazon reviews are anything to go by, the Billisa alignments sticks are ranked as some of the most reliable ones and at a really good price too. Used by some tour pros, these alignment sticks are simple and brightly colored. With many color options available, most golfers should be able to find a pair which match their preferences.

A few of my regular playing partners own these due to their competitive price. They get a real beating from constant use and they look like new despite being exposed to the bright sun in Thailand.

These can be used as swing alignment rods, for ball positioning and other alignment stick drills. They have a carry tube which keeps them protected and easy to transport to the driving range if you aren't allowed to take your golf bag with you.

Pros
  • Storage tube
  • Strong rubber caps
  • Loads of color options

Cons

  • Again only two sticks provided but these are cheaper

GoSports Golf Alignment Training Sticks 3 Pack

Collapsible option for space conscious players

go sports golf alignment sticks

What makes these alignment sticks such a good option is that they're foldable. If you use a pencil bag, or do a lot of travelling with your golf bag, then having alignment rods which don't stick out of the top are worth their weight in gold.

These are super bright which is actually a useful thing if you're using them on driving range mats.

You get three practice sticks when you buy these instead of the standard 2. This means you can do a multitude of different drills from putting to swing plane training.

Pros
  • 3 sticks
  • Foldable design
  • Stunning looks

Cons

  • Folding mechanism could break over time

Final Thoughts on the Best Golf Alignment Sticks

When it comes to alignments sticks, there isn't a lot to differentiate the top option on the market, so it will usually come down to personal preference. Any of the options included in this list will do the job of helping you to improve your golf game, so pick the ones which look good to you and get practising.

FlightScope Mevo Plus Review with Setup Tips

Last Updated on December 26, 2023 by Matt Greene

Launch monitor or home golf simulator reviews online are often written by people who know nothing about the product or how it works. Not this one. This review is thanks to three great subscribers of the Golf Sidekick Youtube channel.

We have three guys who all warn the same thing: You need more space than what FlightScope advertises.

Avid reviewers David, Eric and Brandon provide us with deep actual user insights in this FlightScope Mevo Plus review so you can decide if the Mevo+ meets your requirements and how it stacks up against other launch monitors. We'll take a look at how it works, how it's set up, whether the Mevo+ is accurate and how it compares to Skytrak and Trackman. We'll also look at some of the Mevo Plus problems and how to solve them.

First Impressions of the FlightScope Mevo Plus

Your purchase comes with:

  1. FlightScope Mevo Plus unit
  2. Power cord
  3. Adjustment tool
  4. Metallic dots for golf balls
  5. Very well constructed carry case.
flightscope mevo plus in the case

Eric mentions that the unit is very durable. It’s much harder material than similar priced products. Eric loves his Mevo Plus and says the company is great with updating the software and firmware.

David felt the initial feeling when you look at the unit, is that you feel intimidation because it's a beautiful and high end piece of machinery but it's very easy to set up as long as you have enough space.

The following issue is easily fixed with enough space but Brandon adds something important: "My first impressions were not good. They advertise (still do) minimum space requirements that do not allow enough room to get accurate reads and I had maybe 6inches more room than the min. I had many issues with distance accuracy with faster ball speeds. It was really accurate when hitting shorter clubs (7i and down) but when I hit 5i or longer I could not hit any shot over 210yds. My driver carry is/was over 250yds."

FlightScope Mevo Plus Key Features

Multiple in-depth data points make the Mevo+ an attractive option for indoor simulation. Below is the list of every data point you can accurately capture.

A big benefit of using the FlightScope unit is that the company continues to update and upgrade the software so you always have improvements to the experience. This is a a big factor to consider so you have a long term usage of your hard earned money.

Mevo+ Data Parameters

Full Swing: Ball speed, club speed, smash factor, carry distance, launch angle, spin rate, apex height, flight time, angle of attack, spin loft, launch direction, spin axis, roll distance, total distance, lateral landing, shot dispersion, shot type

Chipping: Ball speed, club speed, smash factor, carry distance, launch angle, spin rate, height, flight time, angle of attack, spin loft, launch direction, spin axis, roll distance, total distance, lateral landing, shot dispersion

PuttingLaunch speed, total distance, ball direction

Mevo vs Mevo Plus

Mevo vs Mevo Plus Similarities

  • Both units can be used indoors and outdoors.
  • Both of the units has no subscription fees and can be used for free.
  • The Mevo and Mevo Plus are portable and not heavy.

Mevo vs Mevo Plus Differences

  • The Mevo requires 4 to 7 feet of space behind the ball while the Mevo plus requires 8-9 feet minimum behind the ball.
  • Data numbers are more accurate with the Mevo Plus and rival some of the big name expensive units.
  • The Mevo Plus is good for simulator use while the Mevo cannot be used with simulator software.
  • Battery life is longer int he Mevo because the Mevo Plus has many more features and simulation mode.
  • The Mevo Plus requires metallic stickers on the balls to read spin rates.

Mevo Cameras

Yes, Mevo+ has a built-in camera for sensor alignment and video capture. In the Awesome Golf coaching session the camera automatically records your swing. So we use it there to look at our swings. The new version of app allows you to have multiple cameras which really will help you if you have some swing changes to make.

FlightScope Mevo Plus Indoor Space Requirement

All 3 of our reviewers all said the same VERY IMPORTANT thing.

You MUST have at least 18 feet of indoor space - 9 feet behind and 9 feet in front of the ball.

All three reviewers agreed that at high ball speed, or with longer clubs, the date was less accurate. With only 16 feet of space, 5 iron is the longest club you could hit and get reliable information.

Optimal Space Requirements for Mevo Plus

For optimal results, you should have 9 feet between the sensor and the ball and ideally, you should have 13 feet of ball flight for a total of 22 feet especially if you intend to hit long irons through driver.

If you want to hit driver with the Mevo+ you need a minimum 10 feet high ceilings. Eric confirms that his ceilings are only 8 feet so he can hit up to 6 iron. This is vital information so that you are not disappointed. The width of the room should be enough to contain your swing, which will be unique to you, but 14 feet is enough.

flightscope mevo distance requirements

What if you don't have 18 feet? Mevo Plus Driver Issues

Any less space than the minimum 18 feet and your Mevo plus will not provide accurate information particularly using a driver or with higher swing speeds. Your driver distances could be out by up to 40 yards.

Eric confirms that he tried the Mevo+ from 5, 6, and 7 feet behind his golf ball and it did not perform as well. Brandon actually did not have enough space and had to remodel the room despite having the exact minimum 16 feet that FlightScope recommends. He firmly recommends 18 feet minimum.

The FlightScope Mevo+ works well as a Simulator

Yes you can use the Mevo+ as a golf simulator. There are some limitations but overall, it's a reliable indoor simulator with many options for software and golf course options. The flight dynamics form the tee and fairway work very well and accurately.

E6 Connect, Awesome Golf, The Golf Club 2019 and GSPro simulation & training software are the most popular software to use in simulation. You can send the images to a computer, iPad Pro, iPad Pro and TV combo or to a computer and projector combo onto a hitting screen.

mevo plus as a simulator

Awesome Golf

Awesome Golf is better for range practice and  swing work. David says 'I also play their courses because they have different tees and I’m not hitting a driver so I hit from shorter tees. I practiced the way of the playa when I played. When I was 220-185 our I hit an approach that got me to 100 yards.' I’m looking closely at GSPro for simulator work. I need a gaming PC for this and don’t have. Putting for me was a challenge, so I had set to autoputt.

GSPro

GSPro is the most popular among all of us and the three reviewers all agree that GSPro is the best for simulation. You do need a gaming PC for this though.

E6 Connect

E6 Connect comes with the Mevo+ for free and there are 5 free courses to play already on the unit.

The courses included on the unit are:

  • Stone Canyon
  • Sanctuary
  • Wade Hampton
  • Aviara
  • The Belfry

These are free and you can upgrade your subscription to include many more golf courses. You will need either a high power PC for gaming or newer Apple device for this to work as intended and that means having the Apple Watch 5 or the iPhone 8 or later. It is some of the best software around though.

Limitations of the Mevo+ as a Simulator

The limitations are minor and are by no means deal breakers at all.

  • Some short chips are difficult to get it to read.
  • Everything is a flat lie, so your scores are in no way reflective in real life.
  • The flight dynamics off the tee and fairway work well.
  • If you’re in the rough, sand, and other playing areas, you're still hitting off the flat mat.
  • The putting feature is basically useless. Putting cannot be replicated indoors. You can however set putting to autoputt. No one should really be buying a simulator for putting!

Top Secret Tips for Optimal Mevo+ Experience

  • Mevo+ uses your WiFi connection to communicate, so if you want connect to the internet to play games you need to find a way to establish ANOTHER WiFi connection. Brandon: I went the route of getting an adapter that I could plug into an iPad that allowed me to hardwire into the internet.
  • It helps if you turn on the Mevo+ in the right connection so you can change weather conditions. I was using it in winter and if FS Golf connects to WiFi first it will take the temperature in your area. I did not want a 5 degree temperature. To do it correctly you connect you unit to your iPad first and then connect to open FS Golf.

How accurate is the Mevo Plus?

We tested the Mevo Plus vs the GC Quad. Keep in mind the Mevo Plus is about 15% of the price of the GC Quad! The Mevo Plus an accurate machine.

FlightScope App can suit your needs

The FlightScope app is perfect for taking the unit to the range and it now has a swing speed session option. It keeps and displays all data in many different arrangements. FS Golf also keeps data on each session.

David adds that "I really like the app. I thinks it's accurate and you can also set parameters you want to work on. It even has a chipping area for indoor. I used this to get my chipping to improve. I have distances for each club with a 10 and 20 yard carry."

Eric thinks "this app works well for my needs. It has four parts; Full swing, Chipping, Putting, and Swing Training. I only use the full swing because the other three seem less valuable to me.  Also, its fun to play the five free courses provided with the E6 Connect app. No membership required!"

Mevo+ Indoors

As long as the unit has enough space to pick up the ball indoors, it is very accurate and can help you with your shot distance estimation and function as a fun and accurate simulator. Here is a chart showing the comparison over 5 shots between the GC Quad and the Mevo+.

gc quad vs mevo plus

The FlightScope Mevo+ is within less than 3 yards of a machine 6 times its price. The difference in readings between this $2,000 unit and a $15,000 machine is minimal. It is a Doppler unit so excessive metal, lighting, or ceiling fans can mess of the readings but more on that below.

Metallic Stickers or Titleist RCT for Indoors

Metallic stickers are needed in an indoor environment in order for the Mevo to accurately measure ball spin.

A great tip from Brandon is that you can use Titleist RCT Pro V1 golf balls which are made to be picked up by radar. RCT stands for Radio Capture Technology and it's a game changer so you can have great quality reliable golf balls indoors while you play your favorite course.

How the Mevo Plus Works

You should take care to cover reflective surfaces and avoid excessive lighting to get optimal use of your unit.

"Mevo+ is a low power Doppler radar using phased antenna array technology to detect and track golf ball launch and flight.

It measures the speed of the ball, as well as the position of the ball as it progresses along its flight path.

Sophisticated mathematical estimators are used to track the ball even under adverse conditions, using the physics of ball flight to overcome random noise and fading conditions experienced in the real world.

The phased array technology also picks up tiny variations in the Doppler signals caused by the spinning motion of the ball, enabling direct measurement of the ball spin rate."

The Mevo Plus requires either metallic stickers or the Titleist Pro V1 RCT golf balls to detect the balls indoors.

FlightScope Mevo+ Outdoors

Eric and David report that the Mevo Plus works flawlessly outside on the driving range and is highly accurate. There's even a setting to account for using limited flight range balls. You just set up the unit behind you and select the 'outdoor' setting and start hitting.

You do not need the silver dots outdoors. You need them for indoor use only.

"As far as I am concerned, outdoors, there is no difference between the Trackman and the Mevo+ because they are both doppler technology - the Trackman is just bigger and more expensive" is what Eric tells me and after experimenting with the two units, I find this is true. The difference is minimal and who knows which is actually the more 'accurate' one?

Eric also suggest that if you’re only planning on using this outdoors then this is where this unit shines. Photo units like in Skytrak are affected by excessive sunlight. This Mevo Plus unit doesn’t have that issue because it’s Doppler based.

Because there is unlimited space to track the ball, the data is actually more accurate than indoors. You have unlimited space so you can definitely put the unit the recommended 8-9 feet behind the golf ball. Just be sure no one stands on it!

FlightScope Mevo Plus Battery Life

Brandon says "Playing on the range (away from a power source) I can spend about 2hrs before it starts getting low."

How to Set Up a Mevo+ to Use as a Simulator

The Mevo+ is a bit more involved than the Skytrak. You will need to play around with angles, distances and settings until you get the thing dialed. This is part of the fun though.  is a must. Your environment that you will be using the unit in is unique so while the setups below can help you get an idea of how to set up your unit, you MUST optimize it yourself.

That is a very simple process as the unit is easy to manoeuvre. As mentioned multiple times, just be sure to have enough space behind and in front of the ball.

  • Mevo+ uses your WiFi connection to communicate, so if you want connect to the internet to play games you need to find a way to establish another WiFi connection. I went the route of getting an adaper that I could plug into my IPAD that allowed me to hardwire into the internet
  • It helps if you turn on the Mevo+ in the right connection so you can change weather conditions. I was using in winter and if FS Golf connects to WiFi first it will take the temperature in your area. I did not want a 5 degree temperature. To do it correctly you connect you unit to your IPAD first and then open FS Gol

Bob's Perfect Mevo Plus Simulator Build

Bob put about $9,000 into this setup but tells me you could do this for a lot less. He just enjoyed the process.

He highly recommends more than the 9.5 feet he has to the ceilings. 10 feet or higher is the best for the simulator to allow for a driver to not hit the ceiling.

Bob: I’m a lefty so the Mevo + made sense because it sits in behind the tee rather than to one side. I needed 8ft for radar to the tee and at least 9ft tee to screen

How to make a perfect Mevo+ Setup

Projector - $500 up to $4k for high end 4k picture.  Mine is a $1k short throw ceiling mount capable of 4:3 aspect ratio.  The garage size dictated a 4:3 picture. I’m very happy with the picture.

Screen - Retractable screen is wireless with a remote and is rechargeable. Rolls out in about 30 seconds. Pricy at $2,200.  I could have gone on Amazon and got a manual retractable roller (kind of the ones for window blinds) and bought a much cheaper screen and did it DYI.

Computer - Gaming Windows laptop for $1,100.  A desktop pc would have better graphics.  With Mevo +, you can display on an Ipad Pro however some third party software only works with either Windows or IOS.

Hitting strips or mat - Get the best you can afford. Read the comments about some strips causing elbow pains and plan accordingly.

Basic Software - with Mevo + you get FlightScope FS software. It has about 27 golf courses with partner E6 and multiple practice ranges. You get all the data points you need. iOS and PC.

Third party software - Subjective and pricing is highly variable from outright purchase to annual subscriptions. I chose E6 and GSPro. GSPro has over 100 courses created by volunteer programmers. Courses are reproductions of actual courses. E6 and GSPro are under $300 annual subscription for each. I will drop E6 and keep GSPro when it comes time to renew.

What I would redo - You can build a basic sim for under $4k easily.  Buy a Mevo +, hit into a good quality net, use the supplied software (FS) and project on an iPad Pro. Go even cheaper with used equipment.

Experience - Playing a course with friends is great fun.  A foursome is my limit, strictly due to garage space for chairs.  There are online tournaments available and some software is family oriented with lots of fun games for young golfers.

FAQs

What Are Some FlightScope Mevo Plus Problems?

There are only a few problems we experienced with the Mevo Plus, some of them preventable from reading this review and some you can rectify with FlightScope.

Cons

  1. The minimum recommended space required is not 16 feet but rather 18 feet or more with the ideal being about 22 feet. 8-9 feet behind the ball will be optimal.
  2. If you put the Mevo Plus 7, 6 or 5 feet from the golf ball, it will not be able to pick up the higher speed clubs and drivers, miscalculating the distance by up to 40 yards. Make sure you use enough distance.
  3. Sometimes the unit has trouble picking up slower speed shots like chips but you can contact FlightScope who have great customer service.'
  4. The doppler radar tech can be problematic if there are reflective surfaces in your room you will use and also if the lighting is not correct. Dim artificial light is better indoors.
  5. You might find the unit has a tough time reading putts. I prefer to use it on autoputt, but if you do experience some trouble, FlightScope is very helpful if there are any issues in your satisfaction.

Mevo Plus iPad Requirements

For Apple iPad and iPhone, you need to have iOS 13 or later. Bluetooth LE 4.0 - supports UART/Serial Port Emulation service with RX and TX characteristics.

Mevo+  works with any iPad made after 2017.

Is there a yearly FlightScope subscription fee?

All FlightScope Mevo+ data measurements will forever be available for free with no subscription fee Myflightscope.com is the online cloud where you can view, keep, and review every practice session. You can store three videos per month with no charge. If you want to store more videos in a month, more storage can be bought for a fee.

Final Thoughts

Overall the Mevo Plus seems like a great deal for only $2000 but the thing that will define your experience will be your setup. If you're on a budget, do you want to hit into a net or into a screen?

If you choose a net, are you going to look at your iPad or a large TV screen? What is important to you? Do you want it to look really fancy in your mancave or do you just want it pure and simple as a training aid and way to keep up to date in the winter?

Playing into a screen will require more setup costs and more intricate planning. But it definitely will look very pretty.

In the end, identify WHY you want one, and then adjust your expectations accordingly. Two things are for sure though with the Mevo plus: It's ACCURATE and YOU NEED TO HAVE ENOUGH SPACE!

Get that 18-23 feet ready!

Best 14 Way Golf Stand Bag 2024

Last Updated on January 22, 2024 by Matt Greene
*Read our review guidelines.

As an organized golfer with easy access to your clubs, you will love switching to a 14 way carry bag.

But, these modern 14 way carry golf bags could even solve more than one problem for you, at once.

The best 14 way stand bag is actually called a 'hybrid golf bag' - golf bag manufacturers mostly make 14 way carry bags that also function as push-cart or golf buggy-compatible bags.

They create them in this way because most people who like a 14 way golf bag are cart users so these bags kill 3 birds with 1 stone, giving you 3 way to use the bag: carry, push cart and buggy.

Our top picks consist of only 4 bags to make the cut. Most bags in this category did not meet our standards, so we included bags with 14 full length dividers, maximum storage, strong legs and unfolding mechanism plus we made sure we feature bags of reasonable weight. Anything not on this list, in our opinion is not good enough.

Everything about the Sun Mountain 4.5 LS bag screams quality. It weighs in at 5.2 lbs, which is on the lighter side for a bag with this many features.

Each one of the 14 way dividers runs the full length of the bag, so you will encounter no more tangled grips.

The 4.5 LS 14-Way Golf Stand Bag features padded straps made of three-layer foam construction for maximum comfort. These are some of the most comfortable shoulder straps we experienced and the back padding on the bag made it feel like the bag was barely there.

The 8 pockets hold such much gear and during our testing, we carried:

  • 2 jackets
  • one medium sized bottle of water
  • 2 phones, a wallet and keys in the valuables pouch
  • a dozen golf balls
  • 2 rangefinders in the magnetic pocket
  • fistfuls of tees and our Waddaplaya divot tools

We didn't use it but we discovered a speaker pocket, full umbrella sleeve, and specially integrated alignment rod holder.

The legs of stand bags are critical to how they perform. Weak legs or legs that do not open wide enough can render a stand bag useless. The Sun Mountain 4.5 LS legs stand solid and the larger foot pads at the base of the legs make the stand bag sturdy on soft, uneven ground.

The 4.5 LS makes opening the pockets very easy with the easy pull system so you never have to struggle to access your gear.

The Sun Mountain is cart-friendly with a cart strap pass-through, leg-lock velcro strap and cart-friendly bottom.

Pros

  • Full length dividers all the way to the bottom
  • Multiple storage pockets for everything imaginable
  • Comfortable straps easy carry
  • Can be used with a push cart or riding cart easily

Cons

  • Avoid the white and tan color - the actual color is white and pea olive

Best 14 way carry and cart bag

The Callaway Fairway 14 hybrid stand bag design makes carrying a breeze and if you want to use a cart, the bag fits seamlessly onto a push cart or buggy.

The comfortable OptiFit straps and X-Act Fit strap system make the bag really comfortable to carry. Even senior golfers over 60 use this bag to carry.

Why we like the Callaway Fairway 14 for three big reasons and we've never found all 3 in a stand bag until this year:

  1. The bag has 2 comfortable, well designed straps despite being a hybrid bag.
  2. The pop out legs mean we can use the bag at the range without needing to prop it upright.
  3. It sits perfectly on push carts and more important, does not slide and rotate around during 18 holes of golf.

The Fairway 14 also has tons of storage with a flat base. One the base, the kick-out mechanism lies under a cover, so you have no worries when you place the bag on a push cart. The bag doesn't rotate and fall off like old-school carry bags used to.

You can fit all of your gear in the 7 different pockets with room to spare for any additional balls or souvenirs you pick up along the way. You'll find more storage available on this stand bag than you find on some cart bags.

The crossover hybrid Fairway 14 bag suits you if you like to mix it up between carrying, using a push cart and taking a buggy. Versatility like that puts the Callaway near the top of our list of best 14 way stand bags.

One note, the rain hood is great for a push cart, but when it is on a riding cart I think it might be challenging to get to.I'm in my 60's and my days carrying a bag on my back are over. I still wanted a bag that was easy to carry but functioned well as a cart bag. The Fairway 14 fit the bill and I appreciate the 14 club dividers in the bag.

Pros

  • Easy to use on a cart or trolley because of the shape and lever system
  • The bag does not rotate around on the push cart
  • Super comfortable straps
  • Large and copious storage space
  • Top handle is very sturdy for quick moving around without needing to use straps
  • Lots of colors to choose from

Cons

  • Velcro for a golf glove is not present
  • The rain hood is designed for a push cart and is clumsy on a riding cart

Best lightweight hybrid golf bag

Weight

5.6 lbs or 2.5 kg

Price Range:

$$

Pockets:

I recommend the Titleist Hybrid 14 golf bag to anyone who wants a lightweight carry bag 50% of the time, and a push cart bag the other 50% of the time.

The Hybrid 14  cooperates with push carts and has all the storage you need if you're a gear guy like me. This bag has A LOT of storage space. You could quite possibly store every golf ball you need for an entire golf trip, plus rain gear and every other unnecessary accessory you could want!

The 14 way full length dividers work well with some minor snagging because there is only one slot near the putter well.

Titleist designed the pocket locations well and using the bag felt very intuitive, in both the standing position and when the bag is on a cart. The intuitive pockets are huge too. I stored so much inside the bag, from jackets, to beanies to water bottles and as always, 1 dozen golf balls still in the box.

We found the cart strap can pass through bag when on a riding cart which makes it much better for securing top half of bag so it doesn't fly off when you start driving.

Our favorite feature of the bag must be the sturdy legs. Good strong legs make it so much easier to trust that when you extend the legs out, the bag will stay where it is. Nothing can be more distracting than when you worry about your bag on every shot.

When we tried the bag out at the range, we like that you can buckle and unbuckle the carry straps easily. You don't think about that aspect of golf bags but if you use the bag on a push cart, you can remove the straps so they don't tangle in your push cart wheels. When you want to carry the bag to the range, you clip them easily back in, and you're ready to go.

Having said that, we did not find the straps very comfortable but we do carry more gear than the average bear. If you do not stuff your bag full of gear, the lighter weight of the bag will make carrying much easier.

The fabric is a highlight of the Titleist bag. We found that any mud or dirt that flicks up onto the bag stands no chance. You just wipe it down and the residue falls right off without staining the bag.

I suggest this bag to any golfer who wants a long lasting push cart/walking bag that stores everything you need with plenty of space to spare.

Pros

  • Easy to switch between carry and trolley use
  • Solid overall construction
  • Insulated drinks pouch
  • Titleist brand appeal

Cons

  • No places to keep loose tees on the outside of the bag
  • Finnicky legs and attachments

If you're on a budget and want a bag that can be used for carry, push trolley or golf cart the Datrek Go Lite Hybrid Stand Bag is the bag for you.

At the lowest price in our list of best 14 way carry bags, the Datrek is also the lightest at only 5.2 lbs. Carrying the bag feels like a feather with straps but if you need a bag to use on a push cart, the Datrek Go Lite does that job well too.

We like that the 14 dividers are full length and when you pull the clubs out, they do not tangle. Luckily the divider frame on the top of the bag protects your clubs grips and shafts.

Everything you expect in a top class golf bag is in the Datrek at about 30-40% lower price than most of the bags on our list. You can expect stand bag legs of equal quality to Titleist golf bags. The stand design may be one of the strongest we've seen in recent memory.

The Hybrid Go Lite has plenty of storage to hold thick jackets in the garment pouch and in the cooler pocket, you can put an ice black plus at least 3 cans of the good stuff.

We found the golf ball pouch holds up to 30 golf balls though we would not recommend carrying that many unless you really MUST.

The flat base allows you to drop it onto a push cart or a riding cart seamlessly.

I recommend the Datrek, otherwise known as Bag Boy, Hybrid Go Lite to anyone who wants a lightweight golf bag to carry but occasionally put onto a cart without breaking the budget.

Pros

  • Excellent price point
  • Multi purpose - carry, push, cart
  • 14 full-length club dividers
  • One of the most impressive stand designs and sturdiness
  • Rubberized putter and driver wells to protect shafts

Cons

  • Stitching on the carry strap sometimes unthreads

Best 14 way stand bag to avoid

Weight

5.9 lbs or 2.7 kg

Price Range:

$$$

Pockets:

The Ping Hoofer series has always been popular as a reliable, sturdy and easy to use bag but the latest iteration performs poorly for a few serious reasons:

  1. We found it almost impossible to get the clubs out of the bag without tangling and sticking putting them back into their slot was just as tedious
  2. Our club shafts got roughed up by the divider at the top of the bag, leaving scratches and marks on the shafts.
  3. Dividers are grouped instead of being individual which defeats the whole purpose of the 14 way bag
  4. There is no cooler pocket which is standard issue on almost all modern bags

The bag is the usual sturdy, reliable quality you can depend on with Ping. Their kickstand that extends the legs remains top of the class but it blows my mind that a well-reputed company can release such a terrible golf bag.

The clubs rub together easily. We found that we need to vigorously wiggle the clubs or move other clubs around to get the one we want.

We found that when you wiggle the clubs and pull them out, the divider at te top of the bag leaves marks on our clubs. The top entrance of the bag needs another 1 or 2 inches in diameter to accommodate all the clubs.

The dividers should extend all the way down the bag, one slot for each individual club, but the grip end of the clubs group together in the bottom of the bag. We use standard size grips, so nothing about the grip makes them tangle. Sleek looks cool, but functionality is more important.

The Ping Hoofer fails one last time with no separate putter well.

As Ping fans in general, we can't hide our shock at this poor bag. A 14 way divider bag should provide an organized and easy way to access your clubs, not make it more difficult but unfortunately Ping Hoofer 14 loses on these counts.

Pros

  • Best kickstand for the leg mechanism in golf
  • Excellent quality materials
  • Solid extendable legs

Cons

  • The top divider marks the club shafts
  • It's difficult to remove and replace the clubs - they get tangled badly
  • 14 clubs do not fit easily into the bag
  • No closable cooler pocket
  • No dedicated putter well

How to pick your 14 way stand bag

Weight

If you're carrying your stand bag, you want it as light as possible - try go as low as you can, under 5 lbs. If you put it on a push or pull cart, the weight could be a bit higher and if you play with a buggy or golf cart exclusively, then weight doesn't mean a thing.

The more pockets and features the bag has, the heavier it will be. It will depend on whether you play in conditions that are stable or variable whether you get a bag that has ample storage space for jackets, rain gear, towels, extra accessories.

Storage capacity/number of pockets

The number of pockets on a stand bag will be limited in general because of the are of the bag that touches your butt as you walk. There is usually a pad there so you lose that storage capacity.

On the opposite side of the bag there is the long pocket which can house your jackets and accessories for rain. Pockets on the front side of the bag keep your rangefinders, tees, drinks and other gear.

Durability and Leg sturdiness

Depending on the weather conditions and how often you play, you want a bag that is going to be tough. This will come down to the fabric they use and the build quality of the frame. These are generally fine in all stand bags, but the big one is the legs.

Check out the legs of the stand bag. They are usually folded up on display and kept in place with a velcro strap. When you check out a bag, unstrap them, and let the bag stand on the ground of the shop as it would on the course. Wiggle the legs a bit and make sure that they feel strong in the joints where they attach to the bag. Check the spring looking joint that attaches the middle of  the legs to the middle of the bag. These hinge and should. be fixed securely.

Sometimes the hinge part pops out of the leg and you have a leg flying all over the place. Make sure the feel also have nice non-slip feet for when you have to put your bag on a path or paved area around the practice green.

Layout of the top of the bag

The 14 way dividers should give enough room to get the clubs in and out easily without frustration. Some of the bags may have full length liners. If they do not, sometimes your grips can tangle on other grips. There is an easy solution to this.

You can get some plastic pipes that fit into the bag to house the entire club.

Conclusion

14 way dividers are all I have used since 2015 and I can't see myself ever using a bag that has only 6 holes unless there is a special place for every clubhead to rest. Removing the frustration is so easy with the new bags that can often double as both stand bags and cart bags. The Sun Mountain is the best of the best.

Coolest Golf Headcovers in the World

Last Updated on December 26, 2023 by Matt Greene

The coolest golf headcovers need to be cool but they also need to be top quality. If there's anything that turns me off, it's a low quality gimmick. But what turns me on, is a high quality

Ripping the headcover off the big dog has to fill you with desire and pump before the big tee ball. Pulling off some cheap junk that rips or feels like crap is not allowed here.

The best of the best high quality yet coolest golf headcovers detailed below.

What do you mean high quality?

Through my Youtube channel, I've learned a lot about good and bad quality products. Which is why I designed my own headcovers. The stuff I have been sent by some manufacturers was never good enough to make it onto my channel.

At the same time, there are some brands I would love to try out myself. I've listed not only my intensely high quality and cool headcovers in the Waddaplaya range, but also some brands I think would legit fit into any true playas bag. including mine.

Coolest Golf Headcovers in the World

Another design idea I thought would be a great addition. I just couldn't get it to work in my favor and found this to be a decent vintage looking driver headcover.

Best Golf Shirts for Hot Weather

Last Updated on December 26, 2023 by Matt Greene
*Read our review guidelines.

I play in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar. It's hot and humid here for 49 weeks a year (90°-100° F). The other 3 weeks, it's mildly hot and humid. I had to find the best golf shirts for hot weather - fast. Here's what I learned VERY QUICKLY when I started playing in Thailand.

DO NOT WEAR A COTTON GOLF SHIRT WHEN IT IS HOT.

I nearly passed out the first time I played golf out here in my 100% cotton polo. I lay in the shower, on the floor, eating dried mango while the cold water washed over me. That's not a joke. The best golf shirts for hot weather are not natural fabrics. In the hot, we want to wear synthetics - not silk or cotton like the tell you. Synthetics like nylon, polyester, and nylon/polyester with spandex woven into it are best. This will allow the sweat to evaporate and stop the shirt clinging to you. When cotton clings to you, it restricts movement.

Waddaplaya Golf Polo

Created for the tropical heat - fun patterns

I have created these golf shirts to be the lightest, most comfortable shirts on the planet especially for the heat.

They are spandex and synthetic blended together to create a light shirt that stretches and keeps your cool in the hot weather. The fabric retains some moisture as you play and the wind cools you down as you perspire.

After you get off the golf course, the shirt is dry within minutes of being indoors and the best part about this synthetic blend is that it does not hold stink under the armpits. I have been using this fabric for 2 years now and cannot be happier.

The fit of these polo shirts is excellent, very similar to a Nike shirt.

Waddaplaya is the only golf polo shirt I wear and that's because I made it the best possible golf shirt for hot weather in the world.

Three Sixty Six Golf Shirt

Great stretchy blend - tons of colors

Three Sixty Six Golf Shirt

Nothing to complain about here. Great golf shirts for hot weather with 88% polyester and 12% elastene which is also a SUPERB stretchy thread woven into the shirt to make it breath and stretch to your body and keep you cool playa.

Little Donkey Andy Polo

Short and long sleeve available

Little Donkey Andy Polo

A Long sleeve polo shirt is sometimes an option to if you want to keep the sun off your arms. Have a look at the bottom of the page if you want to see my solution which I use often out here in Thailand. UV sleeves.

This spandex/nylon blend will be a perfect feeling for you on the course and if you're worried about the cancers on the forearms or just don't like too much sun, the long sleeves are a great option.

EAGEGOF Golf Shirt

Cool patterns and perfect spandex mix

EAGEGOF Golf Shirt

Lovely blend of 85/15 with the poly and spandex. These patterns are not as loud and bright as the Waddaplaya Golf shirts mentioned above but are definitely more interesting than plain golf shirts.

Underarmour Playoff 2.0 polo

Cool patterns and perfect spandex mix

Underarmour Playoff 2.0 polo

Important features of hot weather polos are moisture wicking, quick-dry fabric, and anti odor technology.

The Underarmour offers all of the above and with all the options available, it's one of the best golf shirts for hot weather on the market. The fabric is created to wick the moisture from your body and is built for comfort. I used to wear only Underarmour before the creation of Waddaplaya Golf polos and I would wear them again if I stopped wearing Wddaplaya.

Underarmour sponsor Jordan Spieth and he stays dry around Florida under intense pressure year after year.

Important information when buying golf shirts for hot weather

I did not like to wear synthetics back then and I was convinced by the internet articles telling me to wear loose fitting cottons, linens and silks. WRONG!

After the 3rd or 4th round, you really appreciate the advice of people who tell you to get some dry fit golf attire which are mainly synthetics or blends. The wind blows and cools you down as the sweat evaporates and if the wind doesn't come up, the shirt holds the moisture away from your skin and keeps you cool during the middle of the day.

Shirts with spandex woven in are going to be the most comfortable shirts you'll ever wear. I know, because I created shirts specially for my own enjoyment in the heat! They stretch in all the right areas and don't cling to you or restrict your movement when you swing.

What makes golf shirts so special? Most new golf polos are made with specific features. They are breathable and wicks moisture. These are vital components of a shirt in hot, humid weather. The technology is being developed all the time and with technology, prices increase. Keep in mind that the cheaper a shirt, the less tech is in it.

Are long sleeve polos good for hot weather?

Long sleeves are a good idea if you like to keep the suns rays off your skin when doing outdoor activities. Direct contact on your skin will burn you and with a long sleeved polo made of the right fabric, you can remain burn-free and cool as it wicks moisture away. Many people in Thailand that I play with, wear long sleeve shirts on the golf course and are perfectly happy.

What color shirt should I wear in the heat?

After 4 years of producing my own line of golf clothing, I can tell you with certainty there are situations where polos can actually heat you up. That situation is when the polo is BLACK. A black-color polo will make you hotter as it absorbs the heat. White is a good color but so are almost every other color besides black. Black is best worn only in the early hours of the morning or late afternoon. Midday heat is intense in a black shirt.

What fabric works best in hot weather shirts?

Whatever you use, do not use cotton or silk. These are often promoted as the best fabrics to wear but they trap your heat inside the shirt as the sweat is absorbed from your skin. It turns your shirt into a sort of wetsuit sauna.

The best fabrics are polyester blends. Usually a fabric like spandex is blended in at about 10% of the total fabric of the shirt. It gives the shirt a good stretch and when you swing, the polo will flex with your body and not restrict you like cotton does.

What aspects of the shirts make them good for hot weather?

Your comfort while standing still and walking

When you put on the shirt, it should feel smooth and not itchy or scratchy. Waddaplaya polos are a find blend of either 10/90 or 8/92 for spandex/polyester and it gives them a silky feel.

Some polos from Nike can feel a little itchy because the tech requires that texture and I cannot personally play in the shirt because it bothers me all the way round the golf course. When you introduce sweat, it creates a wet sandpaper feeling.

Always be sure that you trust the brand that makes your golf clothes and understand that certain designs, like ones with breathable holes in them might be a bit itchy on your skin.

Moisture management system of the fabric

Cotton

Cotton absorbs sweat and holds it like a wet suit sauna. It gets saturated easily with very little evaporation. This will cause sweat to drip into your shorts and be absorbed by your undies and your trousers or shorts. Eventually the shirt will have so much sweat that you develop those white salt rings on your shirt after they dry. This will also cause a heavy smell in the shirts in the armpits and near the bottom of the shirt.

The biggest hindrance is that cotton will make your head feel like it wants to explode from trapping in all your body heat. Also when you make a swing, the cotton will cling to your shoulders, restricting your movement.

Synthetic golf tech fabric

Synthetic fabrics used nowadays are designed to do the opposite of cotton. They hold the sweat but wick it and so it evaporates as you walk and play and as the wind hits you. This frees up more space in the fabric to keep wicking sweat from your body into the fabrics to evaporate some more. The shirts smell less over time and they hold color much more efficiently than cotton.

What fit do you prefer?

Waddaplaya golf polos are a larger cut so can be a nice normal fit. If you prefer something athletic or slim fit, be sure to check out your chosen brands fitting chart. Online, most manufacturers, including Waddaplaya golf, use a sizing chart where you can measure your own favorite golf shirt against their chart and select the correct size for you first time.

UV protection

Some shirts will have their UV protective rating listed. If you want something with a high factor, you can find them in the product descriptions to match up. Mostly, fabric blocks sun anyway so you should be good on that front.

Check the washing requirements

Follow the instructions of the manufacturer because they want your shirt to work in the hot weather forever. Usually you don't want to wash these at very high temperatures so cold wash is preferred. Machine washing is generally okay as well. Driers might be touch and go so always check because of the technology they use in the shirts. It might be destroyed by excessive machine heat.

Do not use fabric softeners as they will mess up your shirts ability to be moisture wicking. Standard wash is the best for hot weather shirts with standard soap. Usually the fabrics are sublimation printed so color run is rare but always keep colors away from your white clothes.

What should you not wear when golfing?

I have a great guide on what to wear golfing, but generally, no denim, no sandals, no track pants, and try wear golf shoes, collared shirt and button up trousers or shorts. No football or hockey jerseys either.

Conclusion

The best golf shirts or polos for heat and hot weather are always synthetic. I can highly recommend Waddaplaya golf polos as the best around. I am actively involved in their design and production.

I promise you're going to be thanking me when you try the blended shirts especially the little tidbit about the spandex for stretchiness. You're going to love it and golf in the heat will mean nothing to you, big dog!

Best Golf Bags of 2024 | The Ultimate Guide

Tired of jamming everything into the tiny pockets of your golf bag? Traveling with your bag a pain in the ass? Embarrassed of your sun kissed (faded) golf bag you haven't replaced in 10 years? Caddies looking at you like you're a bum?

Oh what a difference a great golf bag makes. No more crusty golf gloves under my rain jacket. No more painful shoulder traveling abroad with my clubs. No more bag flying off the golf cart as you pull away!

I hope you find one for yourself by using this guide I put together from my experience looking for the best golf bag of all time.

Mini-guide to the Best Golf Bags

What types of bags are there?

Stand Bags

These are usually very lightweight and come with a strap that goes over both your shoulders to distribute the weight evenly. You carry it between shots and place it on the ground. A system on the base of the bag extends two shafts that act as the stand. There are many types and some of the best are 14 way stand bags.

Izzo Ultra Lite Stand Bag
Pros
  • Lightweight for travel
  • New designs cart friendly
  • You look less "old"
  • Won't fall over in the wind
  • Cons
  • Taxing on shoulder and back
  • Pressure on spine and shoulders
  • Clubs banging when walking

  • Cart Bags

These are specifically used for push or pull carts and golf cars. They do not have pockets on one strip of the bag to line up with the centre shaft of a push or pull cart. Most sit flat on driveable golf cars and on the ground.

    Sun Mountain C130 Cart Bag
    Pros
  • Storage for everything - even a 6 pack
  • No club chatter when walking
  • Fits all push carts and buggies
  • On push cart, it's the most comfortable way to walk
  • More protective of clubs when travelling
  • Cons
  • Extra cost of push cart
  • Single-shoulder strap sucks for travelling
  • If there is no cart to push or drive, you're screwed
  • Staff Bags

These are used by the pros. I don’t recommend these as they’re inconvenient and cumbersome. They’re used for advertising on TV more than actual utility. There is little value to an amateur golfer besides for a boost in ego.

    The Best Golf Bag Brands

The highest quality golf bags are made by the top club manufacturers but there are a few names who specialise in producing bags, in particular golf bags you may not have heard of.

    The best golf bag brands

  • OGIO
  • Datrek
  • Titleist
  • Bag Boy
  • PING
  • Taylormade
  • Callaway
  • Sun Mountain
  • The above brands are considered the best due to high quality materials and innovation in developing their bags. Bags they produce carry everything you need; are durable, easy-to-use and look stylish.

There are lesser known brands and budget brands available. The main issue with the very budget options is the quality of the fabrics and zippers used. Often the very cheap bags fall apart after 6 months. Zippers break, lining comes undone and the finishing frays very easily.

How to choose the Best Golf Bag for You - Important Questions

There are some important questions to ask yourself before buying a golf bag which can help identify which one is best.

Is it important your bag brand matches your golf club brand?

Some golfers love to match their clubs with their bag brand but often this is a non-issue. Totally up to you. One thing to keep in mind is that manufacturers who focus on bags and apparel place more importance than a club manufacturer would on creating a great golf bag.

Do you prefer walking the course or driving a golf cart?

If you like driving a golf car when you play, a cart bag will suit you best. They’re designed to fit and stand easily on the back of a golf car. The pockets are designed to be easily accessible from a cart. The stand bags are often awkward to put upright on a cart. Newer stand bags have flat bases so don't write them off too quickly. It all depends on the next few questions.

If you like walking, you have the option of carrying the bag on your shoulders with a stand bag or using a push cart with a cart bag attached to it.

Do you prefer walking the course with a bag on your back or on a push cart?

If you prefer using a push cart you are best served getting a cart bag. They are designed specifically to give access to all the pockets and align correctly to the cart. Weight of the bag is less of an issue because it’s rolled on the cart over the ground.

Carrying a bag would require a lightweight stand bag with nice double straps to distribute the weight over your shoulders evenly. Cart bags only have one strap and are cumbersome to carry around the course.

Do you have any back problems?

If you have a bad back, it’s best to have a cart bag you drive with on a car or you put one on a push cart and push your bag around easily. Carry and stand bags will place added pressure on and tire out your back.

Pull carts wreak havoc on your lower back so it's best to avoid pull carts and opt for a push cart.

Do you travel with your clubs?

Traveling with a cart bag is a major pain. The single strap is uncomfortable and the bags have not been ergonomically designed to be carried.

If you travel with your clubs, it’s best to have a carry/stand bag. You can hitch it up to a cart you rent or carry it around yourself on the golf courses you visit.

A great option is to have your cart bag for your home course and the courses nearby. Then for travelling to other cities or countries, have a second, lightweight carry bag.

Is storage space a priority for you?

A cart bag on a push cart offers you maximum storage space for everything you need on the golf course. The push carts have their own built in storage on top of the cart bags many compartments. You’ll have enough supplies to live for a week on the course.

The Best Golf Stand Bag for Walking

Stand bags have come a long way. Nowadays, the best golf stand bags have stronger legs, more club dividers, more pockets, less weight and can be used on carts. A double strap to distribute the weight comfortably over your shoulders is going to add enjoyment to your game.

The Best Stand Bag: PING Hoofer

    PING Hoofer

The PING Hoofer is my top selection for best golf bags because I like the light weight, intuitive storage options and easily adjustable strap.

    ping hoofer golf stand bag

Like with all Hoofers, this bag is built to last. It’s a very simple design, the material is rugged and the zippers are the best in the stand-bag class. The zipper pulls make opening and closing the many pockets quick and easy.

The huge number of pockets means you have place for everything in your golf bag. Pockets are placed in such intuitive ways and are easily accessible even when walking.

Everything is placed perfectly with attention to detail and the needs of the golfer in mind. You can access everything you need while walking. The insulated drink pocket also means your water isn’t going to seep onto your grips and valuables.

The simple and effective pen holder slot and golf glove Velcro pad add a touch of class to the bag. Little things like that and the rain cover that slides into the pocket that presses against your butt as you walk make the Hoofer ergonomic to the max.

Great legs and bottom that won't age

The stand mechanism is a work of art as the legs have only 2 positions: in or out. So many bags on the market have mechanisms that fail, leading to legs that hang loose instead of tight up against the bag while you carry it. Not the PING.

The legs have been designed with a small bend in them to make them stronger and sturdier than other bags on the market.

The bag is just as comfortable flat on its base as it is with the legs extended on the stand. You can put this on a cart easy-peasy. The smaller base ensures ease of use on a golf cart.

    The Best Lightweight Golf Bag

For a lot of golfers, the weight of a bag is a deal maker or breaker. While the Callaway Hyper Lite Zero is an astonishing 2.5 lbs, the TaylorMade FlexTech Lite  offers more overall value in terms of storage, colour options and style.

Best Lightweight Bag: TaylorMade FlexTech Lite

    TaylorMade FlexTech

The best thing and what makes this range so good is the similarity to PINGS new designs. Like the PING Anser putter has been replicated millions of time since its patent expired, it seems the design of PINGs bags is so good, people want in on them too!

    TaylorMade Flex Tech golf bag

The stand is legit. It’s sturdy and works well keeping the legs extended fully or contracted fully, no loose hanging legs while carrying. Like with the PINGs, the bag is at home in legs spread position as well as flat on the base for cart hookup and storage.

    Comfort and Ergonomic Design

Carrying the bag is very comfortable on the back and butt, while the straps are very comfortable, holding the bag in a very pleasant position across your back side. TaylorMade used high quality fabrics in creating this bag and probably rates as the best they’re released.

Where the TaylorMade does have an advantage over the PING bags is the styling. The colours and design of the bags are just a little edgier and less workman-like.
